4th of July Ideas

4th of July is one of my favorite holidays because it usually means family and friends, good food, loud music (country for me please!), and lots of red, white, and blue all while celebrating our beautiful country! We are staying local this year but plan to spend some time with friends…hopefully a pool will be involved! I created this post to guide you through all things 4th of July for wherever you are celebrating! I included outfits for the family, fun recipes, and essential items for the holiday.

Food/ Drinks

One of the best parts about hosting a party is planning the food and drins! The food and drinks are always a good conversational topic and they brings guests together. Again, I love when I have a theme because it helps guides my recipes and makes it aesthetically pleasing. I created a few easy recipes that would be perfect for hosting or taking on the go to your 4th of July destination.

4th of July Sangria: I like to call this the lazy lady sangria! When you have a lot of food to prepare, you want to make things as easy as possible! I came up with a sangria recipe that is simple with barely any prep work. Who’s in!? The ingredients you will need are white wine (I used Dark Horse’s Sauvignon Blanc), Trader Joe’s sparkling grapefruit water (any fruity flavor would work), and fruit. For the fruit, I used strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries to give it the patriotic look.

Start with a pitcher and add the entire bottle of wine. I used Sauvignon Blanc, but Pinot Grigio would work well too! Next, add 2 cups of sparkling grapefruit water. Add the berries into the pitcher and refrigerate 1-4 hours before serving! If you want to make it a little stronger, you can add a 1/2 cup of vodka.

4th of July Charcuterie Board:

I created a video of me making the charcuterie board to help you see the step by step process. To design this board, I used a large wooden cutting board. For my board, I made sure to use lots of red, white, and blue to give it the patriotic feel. In addition to the colors, I used a star cookie cutter for my cheese and to hold my blueberries in place on the board.

Brownie Stars:

To make the brownies, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 2 sticks of butter (melted)
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Optional: red, white, and blue icing and sprinkles

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. While the oven is preheating, mix the butter and sugar together. I use a mixer, but hand mixing is fine too. Next, add the eggs, flour, and cocoa powder until you have a nice, smooth batter. Once the batter is smooth, add in the vanilla extract. Then, spread the batter into your baking dish and bake for 30-40 minutes. Once the brownies have completely cooled, use the star cookie cutter to shape them and add the icing design!

Other Essential Items:

Below are a few items that are perfect for some fun in the sun! The best thing about these items along with all of the clothing and recipes is that they work for Memorial Day and Labor Day too! (HUGE BONUS!)

Happy 4th of July to everyone! I hope these ideas will help you as you prepare for the upcoming holiday.
